NOPA Membership Classifications

voting members

Voting Membervoting is allowed

Any individual who is currently employed as a paralegal and meets at least one the following requirements, may become a voting member:

  1. Completion of an ABA approved paralegal program and/or a paralegal program at an accredited college
  2. Bachelor's Degree and one year of paralegal experience

A voting member shall be entitled to one vote on all matters which require the vote of members of the New Orleans Paralegal Association and shall have the right to make motions, hold office and serve on the Board of Directors.

Associate member

Associate Membernovote

Any individual who is currently unemployed as a paralegal or doesn't meet the requirements for voting membership may become an associate member. Associate members shall not be entitled to a vote on matters which require the vote of the members of the New Orleans Paralegal Association and shall not have the right to make motions, hold office or serve on the Board of Directors

student member

Student Membernovote

Any individual who is enrolled in a formal course of Paralegal Studies may become a student member. Proof of enrollment must be attached to the application. Student members shall not be entitled to vote on matters which require the vote of the members of the New Orleans Paralegal Association and shall not have the right to make motions, hold office or serve on the Board of Directors

Sponsor member

Sponsor Membernovote

Any individual, corporation, partnership, organization or other entity interested in supporting the New Orleans Paralegal Association may become a sponsor member. Sponsor members shall be recognized and appreciated for their contributions to the association, however, they shall not be entitled to vote on matters which require the vote of the members of and shall not have the right to make motions, hold office or serve on the Board of Directors
